MEETING MINUTES

Attendees: Caryn Gunderson (President), Autumn Montoya (President), Jennifer Tantoco (VP), Helena Shin (Treasurer), Jaimi Carter (Secretary), Yardley Mannix, Karen Alonso(Operations Director BASIS), Steve Vandalen (HOS), Trent McDowell (Head of Operations), Alyena Semyonova, Shannon Henley, Eunbit Kim, Hyeryeung Lee, Liz Lorenz, Sarah Stilwell, Michael Crawford, Lili Crawford, Tyler Crawford, France Kruger, Kerry Richardson, Rebecca Palm, Roxy Missino. CALL TO ORDER AND WELCOME

INTRODUCTIONS AND A WORD FROM THE SCHOOL

• Teacher Appreciation – Caryn
  • Teacher appreciation lunches.  Generally Wednesdays. There will be sign ups and themes. There will be a catered lunch in May during teacher appreciation week.  
  • Stock the teachers lounge – sign ups will be going out on parent square every 2 months.  Requests for healthy items. 
  • Back to school mixer – possibly Wednesday 8/23/23 – details to follow. Parents only, no children.
  • Sees candy fundraiser will come out late August or early September.  50% of proceeds go to AIA sports this year. 
• Boosters Membership – Jennifer
  • Please register for Boosters online.  The $25 membership fees go towards Boosters events.  Any level of volunteering is welcome in Boosters. You can approach any executive member to help plug you in to a spot to volunteering that meets your interest and availability.  Any level of help is welcome and appreciated.
• Passive Fundraisers – Autumn
  • Amazon Smiles has been discontinued
  • Fry’s – Information to sign up will come out on Parent Square.
  • Box Tops is an app now, please scan grocery receipts within 2 weeks.  If it tells you your purchases did not qualify, please try again.  The app can be glitchy.
• Lunches – Helena
  • Pizza Friday – passes will be for each semester this year, to begin week after labor day, 9/11/2023.
  • Hot Lunches – M-Th decision still being made for this school year.  Information to follow. Large need for volunteers these days if program is going to succeed.
  • Single use plastics – can we reduce or eliminate single use plastics? We will look into this.
• Casino Night – Autumn
  • $16,000+ raised last year
  • Sign up to start volunteering for committee
  • Shooting for 11/10/23 (Veterans Day), concerns raised by Yardley and Karen about staff support/volunteers on a 3 day weekend.  To be further discussed. 
• School Requests – Autumn
  • Gym supplies – still could use free weights
  • Science fridge/freezer has been provided.
  • Rolling paper cart will save teachers time and save school money on paper and supplies. Voted by group and approved for cost up to $800.  We do not know the cost of paper, Karen (BASIS Operations Director) will look into this and get back to executive committee.
  • Amazon teacher requests will be relisted every trimester
    • Teachers to standardize their lists and make shipping go to BASIS instead of the parents.
• Helena Shin made a motion, seconded by Jennifer Tantoco to purchase the rolling paper cart at a cost of up to $800.  It was unanimously voted for by the boosters attendees.
